We look at current news articles about the BBC and return to the OCR fact sheet on the television industry.  

According to The Times newspaper this week,  watching TV live and in real time accounts for most TV viewing.

  1. What do you understand by the terms 'live' content and 'on demand' content? Live Tv is the production broadcast in real time.
  2. However, on demand is when you can watch or record a programme not in real time.
  3. What is the demand for 'live' content like? 73% of the nation say they view things live 
  4. According to ratings research, there are 8 programmes cited as the top live shows for family viewing. How many have you watched? 2/8 (strictly and news) 
  5. Apply Blumler and Katz's audience framework to what you learn from this article. Strictly provoke interaction with the audience and that Social Media can now spark and immediate reaction and get people get talking about what is going on. In the article families also get bond with each other. It also says 39% of people feel they get a better connection to society through this.
